Additional surcharges
Ocean freight imports Less than Container Load (LCL) and air freight
Effective as of March 18, 2019, applicable only for harmless goods
What additional surcharges may apply and why are they being charged?
The regular delivery time for import sea and air freight is 48 hours from the takeover of the goods at the port. Usually, the takeover of the goods takes place one working day after receipt of customs clearance. Fixed delivery dates can be arranged for a fee.
As delivery is made to the curb and this means that the responsibility for unloading lies with the recipient, the use of a lift gate, loading ramp, and/or forklift for unloading is recommended. A fee for the use of a lift gate is charged if the recipient does not provide their own loading/unloading equipment (such as a lift gate).
The delivery receipt is a document that proves the proper delivery of a shipment. This is created by the forwarder before transport and the recipient confirms the proper delivery of the shipment on it.
A fee for a telephone notification is charged if the truck driver informs the recipient of the arrival time of the shipment on the day of delivery.
Other charges
Effective as of March 18, 2019, exclusively for non-hazardous goods
What additional charges may apply and why are they invoiced to me? A courier service fee applies if you request the service of sending/receiving documents to/from FreightHub (e.g., the original Bill of Lading).
A demurrage fee is applicable when the loading/unloading time exceeds the terminal's free time during the run-on period. If this occurs against contractual agreements or due to reasons outside the responsibility of the forwarder, the consignee will be charged with the costs.
The agent applies a storage fee for air freight when the shipment has not been collected from the airport/terminal area within the allowed free hours. The reference point for calculating the storage fee in import/export is the actual arrival time at the airport. The amount of the fee depends on the weight and storage time.
An advance-fee is due when importing a shipment and customs duties, and taxes (other fees) apply. In this case, FreightHub advances these fees for the principal. The advance fee ranges from 1-2% of the advance payment and is shown on the customs invoice (effective as of July 12, 2019).
Disclaimer: The above prices and periods are valid exclusively for ISO-standard containers, not for dangerous goods and/or special equipment. The costs for those are available upon request.
